ISLAMABAD: According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the entire country will experience rainfall in the upcoming week because a new weather system is set to arrive in the country at the end of the current week.

Irfan Virk, Deputy Director of the Met Office, stated that the new weather system would cause heavy rains in various regions such as Gilgit Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and most of Punjab.

As mentioned by Virk, rain is also expected in northern, central, and southern Punjab, whereas some showers would be witnessed in different parts of Sindh and Balochistan.

He said that the heavy rains would cause flooding in urban centers and also in flash flood-prone areas, warning people to be vigilant.

He also said that the rain will prove useful in increasing the level of water in reservoirs, which is needed due to water shortages in the country.

Pakistan has been dealing with worries about low water reserves in the country.
