KARACHI: In line with directives from the Government of Sindh and the Election Commission of Pakistan, the Deputy Commissioner of South Karachi Captain (R) Altaf Hussain Sario has announced a holiday on November 14, here on Wednesday.
As per the issued notification, this holiday has been declared for the Local Government by-election in Union Council 13, Kehkashan Clifton, under TMC Saddar in District South Karachi.
The holiday is intended to allow voters in the constituency to participate in the by-election at their designated polling stations.
Government officials, educational institutions, law enforcement and other relevant departments have been informed to ensure smoot and orderly voting in the area.
Earlier, the district administration of Korangi had also declared a public holiday on November 14 for the local body by-elections to facilitate the elections on three seats in the district.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has completed preparations for the local body (LG) by-elections in Sindh. 175 candidates are in the fray for 33 seats in different categories of the by-elections in the elections to be held on Thursday.
The by-elections in Karachi will be held on 10 seats and it is noteworthy that 4 seats remain uncontested due to no candidate filing nomination papers.
