DUBAI: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced four-day holidays in connection with its National Day celebrations, here on Wednesday.
As per the details, the UAE’s National Day celebrations will officially be called “Eid Al Etihad” this year, marking the unification of the Emirates on December 2, 1971. The name, meaning “Union”, emphasizes the country heritage, strength and national pride.
The 53rd edition of the celebrations will feature events and activities across all seven Emirates with special “Eid Al Etihad “zones. While the location of the main event has not been announced, the festivities will coincide with final long weekend of 2024, as December 2 and 3 fall on Monday and Tuesday, offering residents a four-day break.
The organizing committee, led by Eisa Alsubousi, announced that this year’s celebrations will focus on sustainability. Guides will be provided to help participants celebrate responsibly by reducing waste, recycling and reusing decorations.
The committee encourages schools, businesses and families to join the efforts and share in the historic moment.
