KARACHI: In a recent development, to ensure authenticity of the qualifications held by the selected workers, the Karachi Development Authority (KDA) has taken a bold decision to verify the educational degrees of all its officers and employees.
Within this framework, the instructions issued by KDA are aimed at all employees and officers of grade 16 and above to submit educational degrees for verification by the HEC.
The KDA has sent a letter to all departmental heads drawing attention to the need for compliance with this instruction. The letter urges department heads to ensure that all their employees and officers submit their degrees within a specified timeframe for scrutiny.
Besides the educational degrees, they must also provide their birth certificates. The entire process is expected to be completed within seven days.
Failure on the part of such employees and officers to adhere to this order will invite disciplinary action. This move aims to offer transparency and accountability to the KDA.
The KDA was formed in 1957 with the authority for planned development of Karachi on the remnants of the former Karachi Improvement Trust (KIT). The KDA, along with the Lyari Development Authority and Malir Development Authority, shoulders the responsibility of the development of undeveloped lands surrounding this megapolis city.
