PESHAWAR: To curb the recent increase in the region’s crime rate, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police has made a police clearance certificate mandatory for employment seekers.
The new police clearance certificate will now be obligatory for jobs not only in the government sector but also for private and domestic recruitments.
This initiative typically aims to strengthen the security of the region against crime by checking the past records of the employee.
To create awareness, the KP police have also kicked off the campaign “Better Safe Than Sorry,” calling upon the employers to verify the background of an applicant before recruiting him/her.
Employers are cautioned about the dangers of not checking the background of their recruits.
Additionally, the District police officers have been instructed to ensure that the facilitation centers set up for the clearance certificate in major cities of the province are functioning smoothly, allowing citizens to obtain clearance certificates hassle-free.
Residents can acquire the police clearance certificates through online verification, while non-residents are requested to visit the centers physically.
This process is relatively simple: the applicant needs to fill out an application form and submit it again, along with a copy of the national identity card, and two photographs.
Moreover, approvals by the nearest police station and the superintendent of police are also required.
Most applications can take a few hours to process, although the authority have warned against the recruitment of foreign citizens, including Afghans, without proper clearance may expose an employer to a legal case.
