LAHORE: In provincial capital, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has launched an operation against illegal commercial activities, which has thus far resulted in the sealing of 57 buildings for bylaw violations and non-payment of commercialization fees.

The operation, supervised by LDA Chief Town Planner I Assad-uz-Zaman, targeted 38 buildings in Subzazar Housing Scheme and 19 in Gujjarpura. The sealed premises include a range of businesses, such as Allied School, Hassan Orthopedic Hospital, marriage halls, grocery stores, and food outlets.

The LDA also issued several notices to the owners of the buildings before taking action, sending them simply to seal those structures. Director-General Tahir Farooq has ordered the authorities to keep using the same tactic against violators of bylaws and those who refuse to pay the commercialization fees.

This action is taken by the LDA in an attempt at enforcing building rules, thereby providing organized and lawful developmental strategy for the city.
