LAHORE: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) cracked down on illegal commercial activities in Lahore last Tuesday, sealing 82 buildings and premises that failed to pay commercialization fees.
The operation, supervised by LDA Chief Town Planner I Assad-uz-Zaman and Chief Town Planner II Azhar Ali, targeted various areas, including Gulberg, Allama Iqbal Town, Shadman, Shah Jamal, New Muslim Town, Raiwind, and Canal Bank Road.
The sealed premises included well-known businesses such as Cakes & Bakes, Dunkin Donuts, Risen Cash & Carry, and Biryani Master, as well as educational institutions like Unique School, Alma Mater School, and Lahore Leads University Shadman Campus. Other establishments, including Servaid Pharmacy, Khawar Academy, Lahore Literati, and The Right School, were also affected.
According to the LDA spokesperson, the owners of these buildings had received several notices before the operation was carried out.
LDA Director General Tahir Farooq has directed the continuation of indiscriminate operations against land grabbers, illegal commercial buildings, and commercialization fee defaulters in all housing societies in Lahore.
