ISLAMABAD: The Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian arrives in Pakistan on an important visit following the dialogue in Burgenstock.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in Pakistan on a one-day visit, where he was received by President Asif Zardari, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar at the Noor Khan Air Base.
The plane on which the Iranian president arrived in Pakistan is named ‘Minab’ after the children martyred in the school attack in Iran.
Iranian officials say that the purpose of the visit is to appreciate Pakistan’s efforts for US-Iran mediation, and he will also thank Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif for his mediation role during his visit.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, and other high-ranking officials were also present on the occasion.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif himself held an umbrella for the distinguished guest from the brotherly country while welcoming him and shading him as he walked.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and a high-level Iranian delegation also arrived in Pakistan along with President Dr. Masoud Peshkeshian.
A grand welcome ceremony was organized in honor of the Iranian President at the airport, where he was given a 21-gun salute, while JF-17 aircraft of the Pakistan Air Force also saluted him through a flypast.
During the welcome ceremony, children dressed in traditional attire presented flowers to the Iranian President, while children holding the national flags of Pakistan and Iran welcomed him by raising welcome slogans. President Masoud Peshkeshian responded to the slogans of the children by waving his hand.
The Iranian President warmly embraced and shook hands with President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif and other Pakistani leaders.
First Lady Aseefa Bhutto Zardari and Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari were also present at the Nur Khan Airbase to welcome the Iranian President.
Later, Iranian President Masoud Peshkeshian reached the Prime Minister’s House, where a reception ceremony was held in his honor, and a guard of honor was also presented.
