LONDON: London Police have arrested Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activist Gulfam Hussain Kayani for allegedly threatening the Sharif family, here on Saturday.
As per the details, Gulfam Kayani was detained for allegedly threatening Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Nawaz Sharif and others. He also made critical remarks against Army Chief General Asim Munir and made further threats.
The PTI activist posted live videos on TikTok, in which he threatened the Sharif brothers and mentioned destroying Avenfield Apartments.
He made videos outside both Avenfield Apartments and Shehbaz Sharif’s flat and shared them on social media. Gulfam also threatened to drag Shehbaz Sharif and Nawaz Sharif through the streets of London.
In response to these threats, PML-N leader Khurram Butt collected evidence from the videos and handed them over to the police. Acting on this evidence, Gulfam Hussain Kayani was arrested near the gate of Avenfield Apartments.
London Police have confirmed the arrest of a man near Avenfield.
Khurram Butt said the arrest was made following his complaint, where he told the police that Gulfam was planning to harm members of the Sharif family.
Sources close to Gulfam Hussain claim that her phone is currently switched off, and she is unreachable. However, they maintain that Gulfam has never taken the law into her own hands and only participates in protests. They believe that her arrest is politically motivated.
Earlier, PTI workers tried to stop the former chief justice’s vehicle, which belonged to the Pakistan High Commission in London, even trying to break its windows. They shouted slogans on seeing Qazi Isa’s vehicle and ran over it.
