KARACHI: Major Gen Muhammad Shamraiz officially assumed the charge as Director General (DG) Sindh Rangers on Friday in a ceremony at the Rangers headquarters in Karachi.
The command of Sindh Rangers was officially transferred from Major General Azhar Waqas to Major General Muhammad Shamraiz, a spokesperson for the paramilitary force said.
Inspector General of Polie (IGP) Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon and several high-ranking officials of Rangers and police were in attendance during the ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Superintendent Rangers Mazhar Abbas stated that Pakistan Rangers are committed to protecting the lives and property of young citizens, providing swift assistance upon receiving calls for any urgent situation.
Later in the day, Sindh police chief Ghulam Inam Memon gave a reception at the Central Police Office to bid farewell to Maj Gen Waqas, who has been promoted to the rank of lieutenant general, and welcome Maj Gen Shamraiz.
Speaking on the occasion, the Memon said that the paramilitary force had always played an active role in restoring peace in Karachi and action against bandits in the riverine area.
