RAWALPINDI: In solidarity with the Palestinian people and protest against Israeli atrocities in Gaza, a Nationwide shutter -down strike is being observed following the Call from Jamaat-e-Islami and various traders’ associations, according to media reports.
Almost all stores and major marketplaces are closed, and commercial operations have been halted in various cities, including Karachi, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Charsadda, and Peshawar. Traffic on the highways is much less than usual, and attorneys have also boycotted court hearings.
Protests are being staged in several regions to demonstrate solidarity with the Gazan people.
According to Jamaat-e-Islam chief Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman, protests will be staged simultaneously all over the country against the continuous crimes of Israel in Palestine being committed under US support.
The JI chief claimed that the Pakistani people cannot endure the ongoing genocide against Palestinians.
Meanwhile, Ajmal Baloch, President of the All Pakistan Traders Association, stated today that traders will protest at Islamabad’s Abpara Chowk at 5 p.m. He also called on the UN Secretary-General to resign in response to the Gaza crisis.
