RAWALPINDI: On Tuesday, the ISPR said that a major and a soldier were martyred in firing by Pakistani security forces during an Intelligence Based Operation (IBO) in Waziristan.

The Inter-Services Public Relations said that in a major counter-terrorism operation, security forces carried out an Intelligence Based Operation (IBO) in the Sararogha area of South Waziristan, targeting militants affiliated with the Indian-backed group Fitna-ul-Kharij.

The operation was launched following credible intelligence reports about the presence of a militant network in the area. Eleven terrorists were killed and seven injured in the fierce exchange of fire.

Tragically, two Pakistani soldiers were martyred in the line of duty. Major Syed Moiz Abbas Shah, 37, a resident of Chakwal district, was leading his troops from the front when he was critically injured. He was widely respected for his bravery and had earlier played a key role in several successful counter-terrorism operations.

Along with him, Lance Naik Jibranullah, 27, from Bannu district, also laid down his life for the nation. A clearance operation is currently underway to clear the area of any remaining threats.

The military authorities reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to root out terrorism, especially Indian-sponsored elements, from its soil. They stressed that the sacrifices of brave officers like Major Syed Moiz Abbas Shah and Lance Naik Jibran only strengthen the country’s resolve in the war against militancy.
