ISLAMABAD: Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to arrive in Pakistan today for a three-day official visit, accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising ministers, deputy ministers, and senior officials.
This significant visit aims to strengthen Pakistan-Malaysia relations, which are deeply rooted in shared history, culture, and faith, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
According to the FO, the Malaysian premier will visit Pakistan on a formal invitation from PM Shehbaz. During his stay, PM Ibrahim will engage in talks with his Pakistani counterpart, focusing on a comprehensive agenda that encompasses various sectors.
The discussions will center around enhancing economic cooperation, exploring new avenues for trade, collaborating on energy projects, promoting agricultural development, and fostering cultural exchanges and people-to-people contacts, FO press release said.
Moreover, the statement added that the two leaders will delve into regional and global developments, addressing pressing issues that impact both nations.
Earlier today, the Foreign Minister of Malaysia, Mohamad Hasan arrived in Islamabad, where he was warmly welcomed by Additional Foreign Secretary Imran Ahmed at Islamabad Airpot.
The Malaysian Prime Minister’s visit builds upon last month’s address by Syafik Firdaus Hasbullah, Malaysia’s Deputy Head of Mission, who emphasized the importance of increased cooperation with Pakistan in multiple sectors.
Additionally, he highlighted Malaysia’s willingness to support Pakistan in improving product quality through the Malaysian Technological Cooperation Program (MTCP).
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar and Malaysian Foreign Minister recently met on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum’s Special Meeting to discuss ways to bolster Pakistan-Malaysia relations.
Their talks centered around strengthening trade and investment ties, building on existing agreements like the Malaysia-Pakistan Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement and other memoranda of understanding.
The meeting yielded a significant outcome as both sides agreed to convene the next Joint Ministerial Commission meeting in Islamabad later this year.
