Pakistan vs Malaysia: Asian Hockey Champions Trophy match ends in a draw

ISLAMABAD: In the opening match of the Asian Hockey Champions Trophy, the match between Pakistan and Malaysia ended with 2-2 goals.

In the game played in Heilongjiang, Pakistan took an early 2-0 lead but failed to win. Pakistani players missed more than six penalty corners during the match.

Pakistan’s first goal was scored by Sufyan Khan from a penalty corner in the first quarter and Nadeem Ahmed added a field goal in the second quarter. Malaysia responded by scoring in the third and fourth quarters to level the scores.

Pakistan captain Imran Butt was adjudged the man of the match for his exceptional performance.

Pakistan’s next match is against Korea on September 9 at 10:30 AM.

The six teams in the Asian Champions Trophy 2024 are India, Malaysia (13th), Republic of Korea (14th), Japan (15th), Pakistan (16th) and hosts China (23rd).

A highly anticipated match between India and Pakistan is scheduled for September 14. Historically, Pakistan lead India with 82 wins out of 66 matches, although India have won 14 of the last 16 matches.
