Man accused of assaulting, robbing women outside Islamabad’s F-9 Park arrested

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police have arrested the prime suspect accused of assaulting and robbing a group of women near a fast food eatery outside federal capital’s F-9 park, two weeks ago.

According to the details, the suspect, named Jamal Nai, was arrested for snatching 10 tolas of gold jewellary and Rs2 million from the women besides roughing up them.

The video of the incident, that took place on February 23, went viral on social media, sparking outrage and users demanding a stern action against the accused.

According to the First Information Report (FIR No. 118/25) registered at the Margalla Police Station, the accused stopped the victims’ car using a white Mercedes (registration number 521-BGC) and forcibly approached them.

The complaint states that Jamal and his associates physically harassed the women, pulled their hair, tore their clothes and subjected them to severe torture. During the attack, the assailants snatched the victim’s handbag, which contained PKR 2,000,000 in cash and 10 tolas of gold jewellery worth PKR 2,500,000. The accused also threatened to kill her before fleeing the scene.

The victims immediately reported the incident through the police helpline (15) and later visited the Margalla Police Station to lodge their complaint.

After initial investigation, authorities have registered a case against Jamal Nai and his associates under sections 392, 341, 506-II, 354 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC). A case has been registered and a challan has been issued against the accused for prosecution.

The incident has sparked outrage, with many demanding immediate justice against those involved. The brutality of the attack, especially against women in a public place, has raised concerns about the safety of women in Islamabad.
