ISLAMABAD: Former PTI leader Sher Afzal Marwat has said that he will resign from his National Assembly seat if the party founder Imran Khan directs him to do so, here on Tuesday.

Speaking on a private news channel’s program, Marwat admitted that he made a mistake by standing and waving his hand during the Swabi rally, which he believed was seen as a violation of party discipline.

He also alleged that some individuals were influencing the party founder to take decisions based on personal preferences.

Marwat criticized the appointment of Salman Akram Raja as PTI’s secretary general, saying that it was based on favoritism rather than merit.

He said that Raja had joined the party only eight months ago and had not yet held a single public rally in Punjab.

Expressing his disappointment, Marwat said that he was repeatedly ignored and was not even allowed to speak at the Swabi rally, calling it an immoral move.

He claimed that a targeted campaign was being waged against him within the party, which included derogatory statements and allegations. He further alleged that the PTI media team resorted to personal attacks against him and accused some leaders of manipulating decisions for their own benefit.

According to him, these individuals have failed to bring victories to the party on any front and want complete control over all the members.

Referring to the imprisonment of PTI founder Imran Khan, Marwat said that scripted narratives were being fed to him by those who wanted to take advantage of his closeness to him.

He warned that if the truth came out, party workers would turn their backs on the current leadership.

He concluded by reiterating his loyalty to Imran Khan and the party’s ideology and said that his mission was to free the PTI founder from the influence of the “land mafia”.
