LAHORE: Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Monday shared an update regarding the date of distribution of laptops under the ‘CM Punjab Laptop Scheme’.
Speaking at the launch of scholarships in Bahawalpur division at Islamia University Bahawalpur, Maryam Nawaz stressed on the importance of promoting unity and education, saying that hatred destroys human beings.
She vowed to keep the doors of hatred closed, promoting a more inclusive and educated society.
The Chief Minister said that the first batch of laptops has arrived and will be distributed soon.
Maryam Nawaz said that the Punjab government also plans to distribute free electric bikes to 100,000 students next year. She added that 27 electric buses have arrived at Karachi port, 500 more buses have been ordered.
A total of 3011 students of Bahawalpur have been given scholarships worth Rs 177.2 million.
Earlier on November 20, the Chief Minister had directed the concerned authorities to ensure distribution of laptops to deserving students under the ‘Chief Minister Punjab Laptop Scheme’ within 90 days.
She also directed to provide 2000 laptops to minority students. Top position holders in Matriculation and Intermediate (F.Sc) examinations will be given laptops along with a guard of honour.
According to a press statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Media Wing, deserving students will be given the latest Core i7, 13th generation laptops under the Chief Minister Punjab Laptop Scheme.
Scholarships will also be given to students of 30,000 government and 10,000 private educational institutions across Punjab. A total of 18,000 female students will get scholarships under the Chief Minister Hon’ble Scholarship Programme.
