LAHORE: The newly appointed head of the Missing Persons Commission, Justice (retd) Faqir Muhammad Khokhar, passed away on Wednesday in Lahore.
Former Supreme Court judge, Justice Faqir Khokhar, 80, was appointed as the new head of the Missing Persons Commission, replacing Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal, the Additional Attorney General.
Justice Khokhar had been battling health issues for some time and was undergoing treatment at Services Hospital in Lahore.
According to the obituary issued by the Supreme Court Branch Registry Lahore, the deceased’s funeral will be held today at 4:15 PM following the Asr prayer in E-Block Mosque, DHA Phase-VIII (Park View), Lahore.
The Missing Persons Commission, tasked with investigating enforced disappearances, was first established in 2010, under the leadership of Justice (retd) Kamal Mansoor Alam.
Iqbal, the former NAB chairman, had been serving as the commission’s head since 2011.
