QUETTA – Residents of the Balochistan capital witnessed another mobile internet shutdown amid security concerns, disrupting communications during Eid celebrations.

Parts of the region witnessed tight security measures, although authorities did not provide a specific timeline for when services would be restored. The move has caused widespread frustration, as many residents rely on mobile internet for essential services and communications, especially during the holiday season.

The timing of the internet suspension has also left many frustrated as people struggle to perform basic tasks such as online banking, staying in touch with family, and accessing critical services.

Many users have expressed frustration and urged the government to restore internet access as soon as possible. Similar disruptions have occurred ahead of the moon night, fueling public frustration over the recurring problem of connectivity blackouts.

As the situation continues, there is no clarity on when mobile internet services will be restored, leaving residents facing uncertainty and inconvenience during a crucial time of year. The western border with Afghanistan has seen a surge in violence since the Taliban took power, with more than 1,600 people killed in 2024, the deadliest year in nearly a decade.

The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has been responsible for several attacks, including one that killed dozens of residents in Punjab and a bomb blast in Quetta in November that killed 26 people.
