Benazir Kafalat Program simplifies eligibility, payment checks for families
ISLAMABAD: In the capital city of Pakistan, a surprising discovery was made regarding an investigation that revealed that 80% of families living in Islamabad are registered with the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), indicating they receive financial assistance from the government.
Meanwhile, 20% of families are listed as deserving families by NADRA, making them eligible for aid.
Further investigations discovered that 588,000 families received free flour bags under a scheme launched by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
According to recent census data, 411,000 families reside in Islamabad, but astonishingly, 588,000 families received free flour bags
These discrepancies have raised questions about the implementation of the scheme.
The Ministry of Industries reported that flour bags worth 1.36 billion rupees were distributed among deserving families in Islamabad last year.
A breakdown of the recipients shows that 330,000 families registered with BISP received free flour, while 258,000 deserving families verified by NADRA also benefited from the scheme.
These findings have opened up a new debate about the effectiveness and reach of the Prime Minister’s free flour scheme.
