ISLAMABAD: The Motorway Police has launched an e-ticketing app for the convenience of commuters. The new system will provide digital tickets to commuters, reducing the need for paper.

According to a Motorway Police spokesperson, drivers will accumulate points for any mistake or violation and their license will be suspended once a certain number of points are reached. This is aimed at encouraging better road safety.

The system also includes auto-populated details, which makes it easier and faster for drivers to register. Moreover, it will help authorities track stolen vehicles more effectively, thereby increasing security on the roads.

On the occasion of the 28th anniversary of the National Highways and Motorways Police, IG Motorways Salman Choudhry spoke about the extent to which the motorway network has come. He explained that the network started with just 366 km in 1997. It has grown to over 4,500 km, and plans are underway to expand it to all four provinces.

The IG Motorways also said that the police use modern technology such as radar, speed guns and ambulances to ensure safety. Despite some challenges with axle load management, 95% of the axle load regulations have been implemented since last year.

Salman Chaudhry also paid tribute to the police force, especially a sub-inspector who was martyred after being hit by a vehicle. He concluded by announcing plans to adopt a cashless system and said that the police force is already 97% paperless, which is making operations more efficient.
