ISLAMABAD: The National Highway Authority (NHA) has announced a significant 30% increase in toll taxes across Pakistan’s highways and motorways, effective October 1. This hike will impact all vehicle categories, with travelers on the Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway (M-1) facing the most notable changes.
For instance, car tolls will rise from Rs350 to Rs460, while wagons will see an increase from Rs550 to Rs720, and buses from Rs1,000 to Rs1,300. Truck drivers will also face higher fees, with tolls increasing from Rs1,500 to Rs1,950.
Other major routes affected include the Lahore-Abdul Hakeem Motorway (M-3), Pindi Bhattian-Faisalabad (M-4), M-5, Dera Ismail Khan-Hakla (M-14), and the Mansehra Expressway, all with a 30% toll rate increase.
On national highways, tolls for cars will rise from Rs40 to Rs50, wagons to Rs90, buses to Rs170, and two- and three-axle trucks to Rs210. Articulated trucks will incur a toll of Rs460.
Additional toll plazas, such as those at the Kohat Tunnel (N-55), Islamabad-Murree Kohala Highway (N-75), and Mianwali-Muzaffargarh route (N-135), will also implement new rates.
This increase aims to generate revenue for the NHA’s road infrastructure maintenance and development.
