MURREE: As the winter has officially stepped in Pakistan , Murree’s winter snow season has begin on its full potential which normally runs from December 15, 2024, until March 15, 2025.
In order to ensure public safety and to avoid any potential mishap a “rain and snow emergency” will be in place during this period to guarantee activities run smoothly and safely.
As winter vacations begin on December 24, the influx of tourists is anticipated to commence. Commissioner Aamir Khattak of Rawalpindi has directed that all safety and security procedures be completed by December 10 in order to prepare.
For operational requirements, Murree Deputy Commissioner Agha Zaheer Shirazi has asked for a budget of Rs17 million and 100 more volunteers.
To direct visitors and control vehicle entrances, 19 facility centers will be erected at strategic points, such as the Motorway Toll Plaza and GT Road Toll Plaza. Any extra vehicles will be rerouted after Murree is full. These centers will have cell phones, heaters, raincoats, and other necessities, and they will be manned around-the-clock.
Road safety will be ensured by coordination with the Punjab Disaster Management Authority and the National Highway Authority, and traffic management would include the deployment of fifty more officers. As soon as snow starts to fall, hourly weather updates will be given.
It is recommended that travelers bring necessities such as dried food, blankets, and tire chains. Section 144 regulates food pricing, transportation costs, and lodging rates in an effort to prevent overcharging. During the snow season, compliance will be monitored by ten price control magistrates.
