ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) announced a unique initiative for citizens who choose to donate an organ for humanitarian purposes.

In reward, the NADRA administration will provide a lifetime ID card that will have a green heart logo.

NADRA detailed in their social media post that citizens aged 18 years and older, registered with the relevant donor officials, can visit their nearest NADRA offices to get their smart ID card or NICOP with the specific mark. Pak-ID mobile app can also be utilized to apply.

Earlier, NADRA launched a digital birth and death registration system across the country, enabling hospitals and healthcare facilities to register life events directly in a national database.

The initiative is a key component of the URAN Pakistan program, which aims to integrate technology into governance and support economic development. Developed under the National Registration and Biometric Policy Framework with technical assistance from the World Bank, the system marks a significant upgrade in Pakistan’s civil documentation infrastructure.

Through this innovative system, hospitals and health centers across the country will now be able to report births and deaths in real time, ensuring that timely and accurate data is recorded nationally. This data will also play a critical role in shaping digital identity initiatives and supporting the Digital Economy Enhancement Project (DEEP).
