KARACHI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir has stressed that everyone must prioritize Pakistan over personal interests, saying that nothing, including politics, should come before the country.

Addressing the business community in Karachi, the Army Chief said that the state is like a mother, if anyone wants to know its importance, he can ask the people of Libya, Iraq and Palestine. He said that we have no identity other than Pakistan.

He said that I have full confidence in the bright and stable future of Pakistan. The clouds of despair that loomed a year ago have now lifted.

Recalling his previous statement that ‘despair is forbidden for a Muslim’, the COAS highlighted that all indicators of Pakistan’s economy are now positive, and it is hoped that they will improve further by next year.

“Where are those who spread despair and talked of default? Shouldn’t they be held accountable?” he said.

Emphasizing on unity, he said Pakistan can overcome any difficult situation “if we all stand together”.

He urged investors to bring their money to Pakistan, “Let people earn, the country will prosper”.

He said only Pakistanis can provide bailout to the country for economic stability. He pointed out that terrorism is backed by those running illegal businesses.

“Protecting Pakistan’s digital borders and digital security of its citizens is the responsibility of the state,” COAS Munir said.
