After the announcement of two holidays per week, the Punjab government has decided to extend the school timings for the remaining days (Monday-Friday). The government has yet to issue the schedule for school timings in Punjab.
LAHORE: The Punjab government will likely revise school timings across the province after the summer vacations end on August 14 and school will reopen on August 15.
In Punjab, summer holidays began on June 1, 2024, and are set to end on August 14, with schools reopening on Aug 15.
Currently, there is no update regarding an extension for the summer holidays in Punjab. The provincial government could review the schedule if there is any uncertainty in the prevailing weather conditions.
Earlier, schools in Punjab were closed on May 25 after the provincial government announced seven additional holidays due to the rising temperature.
Earlier in June, the Punjab government announced two weekly holidays in schools across the province. Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat declared Saturday as a weekly holiday, adding that the schools will now remain closed for two days a week.
Taking on X, the Education Minister said that the decision has been taken to provide relief to the teachers’ community in the province. “Teachers are serving the nation and we must take care of them”.
