RAWALPINDI: Aleema Khan, the sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, said the former prime minister has refused to sign any agreement, asking “why would he make any deal when he has already spent another one and a half years” in jail.
“The PTI founder said his cases have been wrapped up and he is not making any deal [with the government] on this matter,” Aleema said while speaking to media persons outside Adiala Jail on Monday, where her brother is lodged.
The 71-year-old cricketer-turned-politician has been behind bars since August last year after being convicted in Case-1 – one of dozens of cases registered against the former prime minister since he was ousted from power in April 2022.
Aleema, who has recently been involved in the party’s political affairs, said Khan has vowed to fight his cases and will not accept any offer of house arrest in Bani Gala.
She said the PTI founder has questioned how the cases of leaders who left the party were waived. “He said the May 9 conspiracy was hatched to crush the party,” Khan’s sister said.
Aleema said her brother has reiterated his demands for a judicial inquiry into the May 9 riots and the late-night crackdown on November 26 and the release of “political prisoners”.
