Religious scholars join IPP in Gilgit-Baltistan amid political developments

GILGIT: In a significant political development in Gilgit-Baltistan, several prominent religious scholars and community leaders have joined the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP), expressing confidence in the party’s leadership and policies.

According to media reports, a delegation of scholars met IPP Secretary General Mian Khalid Mahmood and other senior party leaders, during which they formally announced their decision to join the party.

The religious figures who joined the IPP include Maulana Abdul Muttalib, Maulana Abdul Karim, Muhammad Wazir Siddiqui, Maulana Chirag Alam, Maulana Burhanuddin, Maulana Sher Azam, and several other local leaders.

Speaking on the occasion, the scholars expressed full confidence in the leadership of IPP President Abdul Aleem Khan and assured their complete cooperation with the party in advancing its political agenda in Gilgit-Baltistan.

IPP Gilgit-Baltistan President Haji Gulbar Khan and General Secretary Fatehullah Khan were also present during the meeting.

The scholars welcomed the formation of the new government in Gilgit-Baltistan and described the continuation of the democratic process as a positive development.

They emphasized the need to promote religious harmony, strengthen the rule of law, and maintain coordination with state institutions for the region’s progress and stability.

Addressing the gathering, Mian Khalid Mahmood welcomed the new entrants to the party and said the inclusion of respected religious figures would further strengthen the IPP’s organizational structure and public outreach in Gilgit-Baltistan.

The development comes amid ongoing political realignments in the region following the recent formation of a coalition government.
