LONDON: Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar, said that Pakistan appreciates the role of United States President Donald Trump in helping ease the standoff between India and Pakistan.
The Ambassador reaffirmed Pakistan’s stance on the ceasefire that we adhere to the implementation of the ceasefire, he said while giving an interview to the British TV channel.
Kashmir still remains a disputed issue between both nations, and the people of Kashmir must be given the right of self-determination under the resolution of the United Nations, he added.
There will be no peace in South Asia until the issue of Kashmir is not being settled.
Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended gratitude to brotherly countries, especially US President Donald Trump, for their support in brokering a ceasefire between Pakistan and India.
“I especially thank Trump for his brave leadership and averting a long-scale conflict in this region,” he said while addressing a ceremony related to Youm-e-Tashakur.
