ISLAMABAD: Sultan Aziz Azam, the spokesperson for ISIS-K and founder of the organization’s official media wing, Al-Azam Foundation, has been arrested by Pakistan’s top intelligence agency.

Al-Azam Foundation is considered the main organization for ISIS-K’s recruitment and propaganda activities. Media activities have also been suspended following Aziz Aizam’s arrest

Pakistani authorities have made several high-profile arrests against ISIS-K in recent days, including the arrest of the organization’s spokesperson, Sultan Aziz Aizam, on May 16, 2025.

This was revealed in the sixteenth report of the United Nations Analytical Support and Sanctions Monitoring Team. According to the report, Pakistan’s actions have weakened the organizational structure of ISIS-K globally.

Several planned attacks have been thwarted, while the number of fighters in the organization has decreased and Key commanders and ideological leaders have been neutralized.

Measures such as the arrest of Sultan Aziz Izzam and senior leader Abu Yasir al-Turki in May 2025 have significantly reduced the organization’s operational strength.

These actions have also led to the suspension of key propaganda platforms such as the “Voice of Khorasan”.

Before entering the media, Izzam was also an advisor to the Nangarhar Provincial Council.
