ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has demonstrated its commitment to supporting humanitarian causes by dispatching its 10th relief consignment, consisting of 40 tons of essential medicines, to Palestine (Gaza).
The consignment was sent from Karachi International Airport via a chartered freighter aircraft, an A300, destined for Amman, Jordan, and will be transferred to Gaza from there. This effort aims to provide much-needed medical support to the people of Gaza.
The sending-off ceremony was attended by notable figures, including MNA Dr. Darshan, representatives from the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), and officials from the Alkhidmat Foundation.
“This initiative underscores Pakistan’s commitment to supporting humanitarian causes and providing aid to those in need,” the NDMA said in a statement.
The NDMA, in collaboration with a Pakistani non-governmental organization, has sent a total relief of 1,151 tons for the people of Gaza, including the current consignment, the statement added.
In addition, they emphasized the importance of solidarity and support in times of crisis.
In another show of support, the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has approved special permission for medical and dental students from Gaza to complete their education in Pakistan.
Moreover, a special committee, headed by the PMDC President, has been formed to oversee the education of these students, with representatives from the Ministries of Health and Foreign Affairs as part of the committee.
Approximately 100 students are expected to arrive in Pakistan, with the first group of 20-30 students arriving soon. They will be adjusted in Pakistani medical and dental colleges, ensuring the smooth completion of their education.
