ISLAMABAD (Zubair Kasuri): In a significant move aimed at streamlining cross-border trade and transit operations, the Government of Pakistan has unveiled a new visa category for Afghan drivers and transporters.
This initiative offers multiple-entry visas with a one-year validity for a fee of USD 100.
The new Work (Transit/Transport) visa is designed to facilitate smoother movement for essential transport and transit operations between Pakistan and Afghanistan. This development is particularly noteworthy as it comes after recent policy shifts regarding entry requirements for Afghan truck drivers, which had previously ended visa-free entry.
Afghan drivers and transporters can apply for this visa through the official online portal: https://visa.nadra.gov.pk/work-transit-transport-visa.
To complete their application, individuals will be required to upload several documents, including, photograph, a scanned copy of their passport, Tazkira (Afghan National ID), a valid temporary admission document (TAD), an employment letter from a registered transport company or an authority letter from a transport operator, and a valid driving license.
For any inquiries or assistance with the application process, applicants can contact +93202202745-46.
The Government of Pakistan appreciates the efforts of Secretary Interior Khurram Agha and Deputy Secretary Visa Shireen Hina in bringing this important initiative to fruition, which is expected to greatly benefit bilateral trade and connectivity.
