Pakistan Navy to host 9th Aman multinational exercise

KARACHI: Pakistan Navy will host AMAN-25 from February 7 to 11 as navies from 60 countries around the world will participate in the ninth edition of the multinational exercise.

According to a press release issued by the Pakistan Navy, this year’s exercise will be a key feature of the AMAN Dialogue, where Chiefs of Naval Forces, Chiefs of Coast Guards and senior leaders from around the world will discuss regional maritime security. Develop a common strategy to address emerging maritime threats.

Around 60 countries will participate in AMAN-25, which will be supported by ships, aircraft, Special Operations Forces (SOF), Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams, Marines and observers. Delegations from around the world will also participate in the inaugural International AMAN Dialogue, which will be held alongside the exercise.

The AMAN series is a hallmark of the Pakistan Navy’s efforts to promote regional peace and cooperation. Launched in 2007, the inaugural exercise was attended by 28 countries. By 2023, the number of participating countries had reached 50, including major naval powers. The AMAN series’ motto, “Together for Peace,” reflects its core mission, while this year’s theme, “Secure Seas; Prosperous Future,” emphasizes the importance of maritime security for global prosperity.

The AMAN exercise consists of port and sea phases. During the port phase, activities such as seminars, operational discussions, counterterrorism demonstrations, and pre-sail planning of evolution at sea will be held. The sea phase will include tactical exercises, maritime security exercises such as counter-piracy and counterterrorism, search and rescue, gunnery, and air defense exercises. The highlight of the sea phase will be the International Fleet Review, which will be witnessed by domestic and foreign dignitaries.
