Pakistan Railways to start special train from Karachi to Raiwind

KARACHI: Pakistan Railways (PR) has decided to run a special train from Karachi to Raiwind for the convenience of the public, here on Monday.

According to the Ministry of Railways, the first train consisting of 14 economy class coaches will depart from Karachi at 1:30 pm on November 6. and expected to reach Raiwind on 7th November around 8:00 AM. The ministry aims to earn around Rs 8.5 million from this newly launched special service and achieve the revenue target for the next financial year (2024-25), which is over Rs 100 billion.

Earlier this year, PR reported unprecedented revenue of Rs 88 billion for the financial year 2023-24 ending June 30. This achievement reflects a 40% growth over the previous year and exceeds the set target of Rs 73 billion.

The revenue breakdown includes Rs 47 billion from ticket sales, Rs 28 billion from freight services and Rs 13 billion from railway land leasing and other revenues.

Talking to a local news channel, Pakistan Railways CEO Amir Ali Baloch thanked passengers for their trust in PR services, citing the resounding success of the Eid special trains, which achieved a 100 percent booking rate.

Mr. Baloch attributed the increase in revenue to improved services.
