ISLAMABAD: Easter is being celebrated with great enthusiasm and devotion across Pakistan. The official Easter celebrations commenced on the night between Saturday and Sunday, marked by special prayers, church services, and family gatherings.

In major cities like Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, and Rawalpindi, churches are organizing midnight Easter services, where worshippers will gather to commemorate Jesus Christ’s resurrection.

The Pakistan-Christian community is preparing for Easter with traditional festivities, including decorating churches with flowers and singing hymns.

Easter symbolizes the triumph of life over death and is considered the second most important festival after Christmas for Pakistan’s Christian community. The celebrations reflect the country’s diverse cultural heritage and interfaith harmony, with many Muslims showing respect and conveying good wishes to Christians.

Special security arrangements have been made at churches to ensure a safe celebration, with a significant police presence deployed outside churches, particularly in large cities.

Checkpoints and surveillance are also in place to provide a secure environment for worshippers. During Easter, Christians come together with their families to share traditional meals and exchange gifts. Children participate in Easter egg hunts and other festive activities, adding to the joyous atmosphere.
