SUKKUR: In celebration of Pakistan’s 77th Independence Day, the biggest national flag unfurling ceremony was held in Sukkur, here on Wednesday.
Spokesperson of Sindh Government and Mayor Sukkur hoisted the biggest national flag along with senior officers.
A large number of people belonging to minorities also participated in the flag hoisting ceremony.
Addressing the gathering, Arsalan Sheikh emphasized the need for unity in this difficult time to move the country forward.
Arsalan congratulated the participants on Independence Day and also paid tribute to the martyrs of Pakistan. Divisional Commissioner Sukkur Fayyaz Hussain Abbasi, DIGP Pir Muhammad Shah, Deputy Commissioner Dr. MB Raja Dharejo, SSP Sukkur Amjad Ahmad Sheikh and other officials participated in the event.
The event was special due to the enthusiasm of the people participating in the event who were continuously chanting “Pakistan Zindabad” during the event.
The nation is celebrating the 77th Independence Day today with a renewed pledge to work with the spirit of Tehreek-e-Pakistan to make the country a true Islamic welfare state.
The day began with a 31-gun salute at the federal capital and at the provincial headquarters. Special prayers were offered in the mosques for national security, unity and prosperity.
The national flag hoisting ceremony of the day was held at the Pakistan Monument in Islamabad. Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif hoisted the national flag.
