LAHORE: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an urgent warning for heavy rains and possible landslides in Upper Punjab, effective till June 6.
As per the details, the alert has asked the authorities to keep the region, especially Murree and Galiyat, on high alert.
Residents of Murree and Galiyat have been warned to avoid possible landslides and thunderstorms with thunder and lightning. DG PDMA Irfan Ali Kathia directed the officers to maintain round the clock vigilance and the district administration is ready.
PDMA has advised citizens to avoid open skies during the storm and stay aware of the weather forecast to ensure their safety. The expected heavy rains pose considerable risks to both life and property, emphasizing the need for precautionary measures
In preparation for any emergency, the PDMA has assured the public of its readiness to respond quickly and directed the district administration to implement necessary safety protocols. Citizens are urged to stay indoors during severe weather conditions and avoid open spaces to reduce risk.
In a similar tragic incident, two brothers lost their lives due to lightning in Khushab. DGPDMA Irfan Ali Kathia expressed his condolences to the bereaved family and announced financial assistance to help them in this difficult time.
