ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has convened a meeting of the National Command Authority (NCA) today following the Pakistan Army’s military operation ‘Bunyan Marsoos’, which targeted several Indian facilities.

The high-level discussion will evaluate the most recent events in the growing tensions between India and Pakistan.

The National Command Authority (NCA) is Pakistan’s ultimate authority in charge of ensuring national security through command, control, and operational decisions surrounding the country’s nuclear weapons development.

The NCA is chaired by the Prime Minister and includes key federal ministers from Foreign Affairs, Interior, Defence, and Finance, as well as the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, the chiefs of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, the Director General of the Strategic Plans Division (SPD), and the Director General of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

The NCA maintains and improves the management and operational efficacy of Pakistan’s nuclear weapons stockpile, as well as serving as a policy institution for weapons of mass destruction in Pakistan.

Earlier, Pakistan Armed Forces had initiated a large-scale military operation named “Operation Bunyan ul Marsoos” in retaliation for continuous Indian provocations, security sources said on early Saturday.

Security sources said that Pakistan has successfully destroyed the storage facility of the BrahMos missile in Beas, from where missiles were launched at Pakistan.

Furthermore, multiple strategic targets across India are being engaged as part of the operation.

“The Udhampur Air Base — a major operational site — and the airfield in Pathankot have also been heavily hit,” sources said.
