ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and King Abdullah II of Jordan held a one-on-one meeting at the Prime Minister’s House on Saturday evening.
Discussions were held on increasing economic, trade, investment, health, education, and defense cooperation.
The two leaders agreed to further deepen bilateral relations, while Pakistan and Jordan also expressed their determination to increase strategic and economic cooperation.
According to the details, in the meeting, the two sides agreed to increase joint cooperation in regional and international forums.
King Abdullah II appreciated Pakistan for Jordan’s support on the Gaza issue. Regional security and peace measures were discussed in detail in the meeting.
Pakistan and Jordan reiterated their common position on the Palestine issue, while both countries strongly opposed the forced eviction of Palestinians from Gaza, and it was agreed to increase close coordination with eight Arab Islamic countries.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Field Marshal Asim Munir, and federal ministers attended the meeting. The Prime Minister also briefed King Abdullah on the situation related to Afghanistan and India. King Abdullah praised Pakistan’s role for regional peace.
On this occasion, MoUs were signed between Pakistan and Jordan in the fields of media, culture, and education, and the Prime Minister hosted a dinner in honor of King Abdullah II.
Earlier, King Abdullah II of Jordan arrived in Islamabad on a visit to Pakistan, where he was accorded a grand welcome.
Upon his arrival in Islamabad, President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed King Abdullah II and his high-level delegation at the airport.
Abdullah II’s visit to Pakistan reflects the long-standing brotherly relations between Jordan and Pakistan.
This visit will further strengthen the political, economic, and cultural ties between the two countries.
King Abdullah II is currently at the Prime Minister’s House where he is being presented with a guard of honour.
After this, Abdullah II will have a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister’s House and will also meet at the delegation level.
This visit of King Abdullah II will further strengthen the long-standing relations between Pakistan and Jordan and will help in expanding the scope of bilateral cooperation between the two brotherly countries.
