PM Shehbaz Sharif briefs Asif Ali Zardari on US-Iran talks

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met President Asif Ali Zardari and briefed him of all aspects of the ongoing negotiations between the US and Iran and Pakistan’s successful mediation.

In this meeting held at the Presidential Palace on Tuesday, the Prime Minister gave a detailed briefing to the President on various stages of the negotiations.

The Prime Minister informed him of the progress made as a result of Pakistan’s mediation and the goals achieved in terms of reducing tension in the region.

In addition, the Prime Minister also assured the President about his upcoming visit to Saudi Arabia and Turkey.

President Asif Ali Zardari appreciated Pakistan’s tireless efforts to host the negotiations between the US and Iran.

Praising the joint efforts of the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, Field Marshal and all state institutions in this regard, he said that Pakistan has further strengthened its position as a responsible and key state on the global stage. Pakistan has practically proven its peace-loving reputation before the world.

The impact of war is profound not only on the region but also on international security, economy and politics.

The President stressed that the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister should be in constant contact with the US, Iran and other global powers. He added that only through the continuation of these diplomatic contacts can the peace process and regional harmony be ensured.
