PM Shehbaz Sharif leaves for Iran after completing Turkiye’s visit

ISTANBUL: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Monday departed for Iran after concluding his two-day official visit to Turkiye. The prime minister will arrive in Tehran, where he will meet the Iranian leadership.

At the airport, the prime minister was seen off by Minister of National Defense of Turkiye Yasar Guler, Deputy Governor Istanbul Ilker Haktankacmaz, President Pakistan Turkiye Cultural Association Burhan Kayaturk, Ambassador of Pakistan in Turkiye Yousaf Junaid, Consul General Nauman Aslam, senior officials of Turkiye and staff members of Pakistan Embassy, PM Office Media Wing said in a press release.

The purpose of the prime minister’s visit to Turkiye was to express the deepest appreciation and acknowledgment for the support extended to Pakistan by the people of Turkiye and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during the recent crisis with India.

Earlier, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and President of Turkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan Sunday expressed a renewed commitment to further deepen the multifaceted cooperation between Pakistan and Türkiye.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who arrived on an official two-day visit to Turkiye, held a warm and most cordial meeting with President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

The two leaders pledged to continue working closely for regional peace, sustainable development, and the shared prosperity of their peoples.

The engagement reaffirmed the deep-rooted, historic, and brotherly ties between Pakistan and Türkiye, anchored in shared values, mutual respect, and a common vision for progress and prosperity.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who was accompanied by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the government and people of Türkiye for their unwavering support to Pakistan during the recent developments in South Asia, underscoring the strength of the fraternal bonds between the two nations.
