ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the economic team and coalition partners for their commitment and support in getting the 2025-26 annual budget approved in parliament and encouraged them to display the same level of unity and enthusiasm for national economic progress.

Speaking to the members of the Senate and National Assembly after the budget was approved for 2025-26, the prime minister said, “We all have to work together and stand together for Pakistan’s economic progress. I have full faith that this exemplary unity will guarantee Pakistan will be economically uplifted.”

PM Shehbaz said the economic team worked very hard to develop a budget that is friendly to the people, adding he also thanked the allied parties whose consultations helped create a budget in the image of the people.

He also spoke about the regional situation and said Allah Almighty gave Pakistan a great victory in response to India’s recent unprovoked aggression against Pakistan.

He said the Pakistan armed forces, political leadership as a whole, people, civil society, and media all united to foil the enemy’s malicious plans. Pakistan’s victory has elevated it amongst the family of nations, he concluded.

PM Shehbaz informed the parliamentarians that in the leadership of Chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the diplomatic team successfully put forth Pakistan’s point of view and revealed India’s ill intentions towards Pakistan at the international level.

The prime minister said the multi-party team was gladly received abroad, and Pakistani expatriates also welcomed them with enthusiasm, paying heartfelt praises to the government and Pakistani defense forces on diplomatic and military victories.

Coming to recent Israel’s hostility towards Iran, PM Shehbaz explained that Pakistan stood with the Iranian government and its people at all levels.

“I was in close contact with the Iranian leadership, especially President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, throughout the war. The resolution of the Israel-Iran conflict will open doors for peace and prosperity in the region,” said PM Shehbaz.

Talking about the issue in the Middle East, the prime minister stated that Pakistan stood in solidarity with Iran at all levels when Iran was attacked by Israel.
