PMD predicts rainfall, snowfall across various regions of Pakistan from Feb 25

Islamabad: As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the weather in Pakistan is expected to change due to the potential arrival of a westerly wave in Balochistan during the night of February 25th, followed by its spread to the northern regions of the country on February 26th.

The Meteorological Office forecasts rain and snowfall in the mountainous regions of Balochistan and the northern areas of Pakistan starting from Sunday night until Tuesday (February 25th-27th).

As a result of this weather pattern, precipitation in the form of rain and snow is anticipated across various parts of the country from February 25th (Sunday) to February 27th (Tuesday). Additionally, isolated hailstorms may occur during this period.

Balochistan in Weather

Rain-wind/thunderstorm (snowfall over the hills) with few heavy falls is expected in Chaghi, Noushki, Kharan, Panjgur, Gwadar, Awaran, Khuzdar, Kalat, Lasbella, Sibbi, Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qila Abdullah, Qila Saifullah, Zhob, Sherani, Barkhan, Musakhel and Kohlu on 25th (night) & 26th Feb.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Weather Update

From the night of February 25th to February 27th, a combination of rain, wind, and thunderstorms (with snowfall expected in mountainous areas) is forecasted in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Kohistan, Buner, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Swabi, Mardan, Charsadda, Nowshera, Peshawar, Mohmand, Bajaur, Khyber, Kurram, Kohat, Bannu, and Waziristan. There may be intermittent breaks in the weather during this period. Additionally, isolated hailstorms are also possible.

Gilgit Baltistan/Kashmir weather

From the night of February 25th to February 27th, Gilgit-Baltistan (including Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche, Shigar) and Kashmir (comprising Neelum valley, Muzaffarabad, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, Mirpur) are expected to experience rain, wind, and thunderstorms, with snowfall anticipated in hilly areas. There may be intermittent breaks in the weather during this period. Additionally, isolated hailstorms are also possible.

Punjab Rain update

On the evenings of February 26th and February 27th, light to moderate rain accompanied by wind and thunderstorms, with snowfall expected in the hills, is anticipated in Murree, Galliyat, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mianwali, Khushab, Sargodha, Bhakkar, Layyah, and Dera Ghazi Khan. Isolated hailstorms may also occur during this time frame.

Islamabad Weather

From the evening of February 26th to February 27th, Islamabad/Rawalpindi is expected to experience light to moderate rain accompanied by wind and thunderstorms. Isolated hailstorms may also occur during this period.

Sindh Weather

The southern parts of the province are expected to experience cloudy weather with gusty winds on February 25th and 26th.

According to a weather advisory from the PMD, snowfall may lead to road closures in north Balochistan, while heavy rain could cause flash flooding in local nullahs/streams in Balochistan, particularly in Gwadar, Ketch, Panjgur, and Awaran districts.
