Portfolios allocated to Special Assistants to Prime Minister

ISLAMABAD (Rizwan Abbasi): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has assigned portfolios to his Special Assistants under the Rules of Business, 1973.

The Cabinet Division has issued a notification in this regard.

The portfolios were officially announced today after the appointment of Special Assistants to the Prime Minister on February 27, 2025.

The Prime Minister has assigned the portfolio of Industries and Production to Haroon Akhtar, while Huzaifa Rehman has been given the responsibility of National Heritage and Culture, and Mubarak Zeb has been appointed Special Assistant on Tribal Affairs.

Additionally, Talha Barki has been made Special Assistant on Political Affairs.

According to government sources, these decisions have been taken to further strengthen the administrative performance of the government, which is expected to lead to better governance in various departments.

In another development, the premier also assigned the portfolios to 21 new members, nearly a week after they were inducted into the federal cabinet, and reshuffled his already serving cabinet.

As per the notification, Talal Chaudhry has been given the portfolio of Minister of State for Interior and Narcotics, while the portfolio of the Minister of State for Health and Regulations has been assigned to Mukhtar Ahmed Barth.

Mohammad Awn Saqlain has been made Minister of State for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development and Kesoo Mal Kheal Das has been assigned with the Minister of State for Religious Affairs,

Malik Rashid Ahmed Khan has been made Minister of State for National Food Security, Abdul Rehman Kanjo Minister of State for Energy, Aqeel Malik Minister of State for Law and Justice, while Bilal Azhar Kayani has been appointed as the Minister of State for Railways.

Wajiha Qamar has been given the portfolio of Minister of State for Education, the notification added.
