Newly inducted federal cabinet members assigned with portfolios

Federal cabinet meets today to approve Budget 2026-27 proposals

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has assigned the portfolios to 21 new members, nearly a week after they were inducted into the federal cabinet, and reshuffled his already serving cabinet.

The notification issued by the Cabinet Division on Friday stated, “the Prime Minister, under rule 3(4) of the Rules of Business, 1973, has been pleased to allocate the portfolios (business of the Government) to the Federal Ministers and Ministers of State.”

As per the notification, Talal Chaudhry has been given the portfolio of Minister of State for Interior and Narcotics, while the portfolio of the Minister of State for Health and Regulations has been assigned to Mukhtar Ahmed Barth.

Mohammad Awn Saqlain has been made Minister of State for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development and Kesoo Mal Kheal Das has been assigned with the Minister of State for Religious Affairs,

Malik Rashid Ahmed Khan has been made Minister of State for National Food Security, Abdul Rehman Kanjo Minister of State for Energy, Aqeel Malik Minister of State for Law and Justice, while Bilal Azhar Kayani has been appointed as the Minister of State for Railways.

Wajiha Qamar has been given the portfolio of Minister of State for Education, the notification added.

In addition to that, Prime Minister has stripped Dr. Musadik Malik of the charge of Petroleum Division. He will now serve as the Federal Minister for Climate Change.

The portfolio of Maritime Affairs has been taken from Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh and assigned to Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry.

While Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh will now look after the portfolio of the Board of Investment and Privatization, which was earlier given to Abdul Aleem Khan.

Abdul Aleem Khan has been assigned to the portfolio of Communications, while Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar has been given the additional portfolio of Human Rights.

Furthermore, Tariq Fazal Chaudhry has been given the portfolio of Parliamentary Affairs, Ali Pervaiz Malik has been given the portfolio of Petroleum, while Aurangzeb Khan Khichi has been assigned with the portfolio of National Heritage and Culture.

Khalid Hussain Magsi has been appointed as the Minister of Science and Technology, Muhammad Hanif Abbasi as the Minister of Railways, and Muhammad Moin Wattoo as the Minister of Water Resources.

Similarly, Muhammad Junaid Anwar has been given the portfolio of Maritime Affairs, Muhammad Raza Hayat Hiraj as the Minister of Defense Production, and Sardar Muhammad Yousaf as the Minister of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony.

Furthermore, Syed Mustafa Kamal has been appointed as the Minister of National Health, which is being considered a major and exciting development.

Shaza Fatima Khawaja has been given the responsibility of IT and Telecommunication, while Rana Mubashir Iqbal has been made in-charge of the Public Affairs Unit.

Khalid Hussain Magsi has been given the portfolio of Science and Technology, Muhammad Hanif Abbasi has been given the portfolio of Railways, and Moeen Wattoo has been given the portfolio of Water Resources.
