KARACHI: On Wednesday morning, a powerful explosion struck the Sindh High Court (SHC) building, damaging several walls and shattering windowpanes. The gas cylinders were present in the canteen section of the High Court where they suddenly blasted.

Fortunately, no casualties have been reported. According to police sources, the blast appeared to have been caused by a gas leak in the canteen of the court’s new bar room.

The explosion was so intense that it cracked all the windowpanes in both the bar room and the canteen. The SHC security team promptly called in the bomb disposal squad to inspect the area.

The explosion occurred at 6:00 a.m., and this has been confirmed by authorities.

Earlier, a gas cylinder explosion in Karachi resulted in injuries to at least 12 people, including women and children. The incident took place in a house near Ghausia Chowk, Orangi Town No 10.

The injured were taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and Civil Hospital’s burns ward for treatment. The victims included seven members of the household who suffered burns, as well as a neighboring woman, her four-year-old son, and two newborn twins who were hurt when a wall collapsed.

In another separate incident, a gas cylinder explosion in the Mithdar police station jurisdiction led to one fatality and injuries to six others.

Additionally, a loud explosion at a shop in the generator market in front of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce damaged the building and nearby vehicles. The blast also caused a fire in the shop, spreading debris onto the road.
