President approves appointment of Justice Amin Uddin as Chief Justice of Constitutional Court

ISLAMABAD: The President has approved the appointment of Justice Aminuddin Khan as the Chief Justice of the Federal Constitutional Court (FCC).

Justice Aminuddin Khan will be the first Chief Justice of the Federal Constitutional Court.

The President approved the appointment of Justice Aminuddin Khan on the advice of the Prime Minister.

It should be noted that Justice Aminuddin Khan was previously the head of the Constitutional Bench and was retiring at the end of this month.

Justice Aminuddin Khan was to retire from office on November 30.

The Other Judges of the FCC may include Justice Aamir Farooq, Justice Ali Baqir Najfi, Justice Hassan Azhar Rizvi, Chief Justice Baliochistan High Court Rozi Khan, and Justice K.K. Agha from Sindh High Court, according to sources.

It should be noted that the 27th Constitutional Amendment Bill has been passed by both houses, and after the President’s signature, this bill has now become part of the Constitution.

Under the amendment to Article 176, the current Chief Justice Yahya Afridi will be called the Chief Justice of Pakistan until the completion of his term. Article 255, Clause 2, has been amended, which deals with the appointment of the Chief Justice of Pakistan after the current term.

The Chief Justice of Pakistan will be the senior-most Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and the Chief Justice of the Federal Constitutional Court.
