ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has made an important announcement on the issue of government formation in Gilgit-Baltistan and invited the Pakistan Peoples Party to form the government.

The Prime Minister said that in the recent elections, the PPP has emerged as the largest party in Gilgit-Baltistan, therefore, respecting democratic traditions and the public mandate, the same party should also be given the right to form the government.

Shahbaz Sharif said that the Pakistan Muslim League (N) has decided to sit on the opposition benches in the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly and will fully support the PPP in the government formation process.

He clarified that all elected members of the PML-N will vote for the PPP candidates in the government selection phase so that the public mandate can be respected.

The Prime Minister said in his statement that the PML-N has always prioritized democratic values, political stability and the principles of mutual respect with the coalition parties.

He said that his party has maintained a relationship of respect and trust with its allies in every difficult time and the current decision is a continuation of this political tradition.
