ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Thursday said that at a time when national unity was the need of the hour as India was threatening Pakistan, those in the corridors of power were unable to handle the situation and the country’s most trusted leader, former Prime Minister Imran Khan, was incarcerated in Adiala Jail.

In their joint statement, the party’s political and core committees said that India under PM Modi’s leadership was following the ideology of the RSS and had become a threat to peace and stability in the region. “PTI strongly condemns India’s attempts to dominate the region and impose war on Pakistan,” the statement said.

The party added that unlike the government, which was in a state of slumber, Imran had taken a clear stand on India’s aggression, even though he is currently behind bars. “He is the only leader who, despite suffering at the hands of the authorities for the past two years, is calling for national unity. His clear message is: Peace is our priority. But it should not be considered our weakness,” PTI said, adding that the nation needs Imran’s leadership in this hour of crisis.

The statement said that keeping Imran in jail under these circumstances is not only injustice but also anti-state.

PTI added that it demands the immediate release of its founder so that he can lead the nation in this trying time.
