ISLAMABAD: Founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan has filed a contempt of court petition in the Special Central Court, accusing Adiala Jail authorities of violating court orders regarding WhatsApp communication with his sons and medical examination.

The petition, filed by lawyers Usman Riaz Gul, Zaheer Abbas, Shaheena Shahab and others, alleged that the jail superintendent deliberately ignored court instructions and violated the law by taking arbitrary decisions.

According to the petition, despite clear court orders, Imran Khan was denied permission to make WhatsApp calls to his sons and was also not allowed to undergo a medical examination, which the court had earlier approved.

The legal team argues that these actions violate sections 188 and 177 of the Pakistan Penal Code, which refer to willful disobedience of orders of government servants and providing false information. The petition also accuses the Adiala Jail Superintendent of challenging the powers of the judiciary.

The petition states that “there was no delay in implementing the court orders, there was a blatant refusal.”

The case was heard by Special Judge Central Shahrukh Arjumand, who issued notices to the parties and adjourned the hearing till July 24.
